Further details of this year’s conference program have been announced for the 13th edition of Label Summit Latin America. Set to engage and empower label and package printers, the Summit will focus on the latest trends facing this fast paced sector, as well as highlight the latest available technologies. The event will be held from April 26-27 at the Hotel Las Americas Convention Center in Cartagena, Colombia. It will provide print trade professionals with the perfect opportunity to learn, debate, network and collaborate. Featuring expert-led conference sessions over two days, delegates will have access to a broad range of seminars and case studies. The opening keynote will be given by Georges Gravanis of Avery Dennison Corporation. Gravanis will be exploring both the local and global trends affecting the pressure-sensitive label industry, as well as underlining issues including sustainability and commercial growth opportunities. The opening day will also include presentations on subjects including new applications in digital printing by Grupo Ercus, a panel discussion involving the leaders of Andigraf, FINAT and the TLMI, an overview of in-mold labeling by Maya Pack Group and YUPO and a round-up of the latest niche technologies. Delegates will also hear from fellow printers, including Carlos Rodriguez Garmendia of Mexico’s Graphic Image, Francisco Arias of Ecuador-based Sismode and Colombian-based Coditeq’s Jorge Arias. They will be discussing the issues surrounding setting up new printing plants in foreign markets such as how to harmonize print and quality standards and create a regional network of companies. Day two’s morning sessions will cover topics including films and flexible packaging, with an update on current developments in thin film labeling from UPM Raflatac and shrink sleeves from Accraply. The afternoon will focus on interactive products, design and branding with presentations including the incorporation of neuroscience and eye tracking into package design by Henry Castillo of NeuroMind and smart products to increase consumer sales by GERMARK’s Iban Cid. Carolina Alzate Álvarez, co-founder of imasD will share her expertise with a 360° look at business models, user insight and case studies on creative packaging design excellence highlighting the importance of package shaping and label and product decoration. The conference program will conclude with a beer sampling and interactive workshop where delegates will hear about the beer brewing and label design process from Bavarian-owned brand Club Colombia, Hernán Saldarriaga Londoño of converter Etipress and substrate suppliers UPM Raflatac. Aimed at print industry professionals including printers, label and packaging designers and brand owners, the Summit provides the Colombian market with valuable and informative conference sessions and networking opportunities. There will also be over 80 international and Latin American companies exhibiting, including Avery Dennison, Arclad, Armor, Bobst, Epson, Esko, Flint Group, Gallus, Mark Andy, MPS, Nilpeter, Omet, Sun Chemical, UPM Raflatac and Xeikon. Tasha Ventimiglia, Americas event director explains: “As usual with Label Summit Latin America, the conference sessions are very much geared towards ensuring that the sector is fit for the future with a summary of the latest trends and technological advances. The Summit will be an excellent showcase for some of the changes that are already happening in the label and package printing industry worldwide and will delve into different business models, applying new technologies, examples of the industry working in partnership with clients and simple ways of streamlining processes to improve profit margins and workflow efficiency. We hope our delegates will once again get involved in the conversation, challenge their thinking and learn from one another.” Early bird rates are available until April 8 with two-day delegate passes costing from COL $395,000. One-day delegate passes cost COL $315,000 and two-day suppliers passes retail at COL $1,600,000. Visitors can register to attend at http://www.labelexpo.com/colombia/.
